Hannah Schoettmer is a Los Angeles-based writer and director whose work examines shame, belief, and the stories people tell to survive themselves and each other.

A 2024 Southern Exposure Film Fellow and a graduate of USC’s School of Cinematic Arts, her documentary work has screened at Wild & Scenic Film Festival, Sidewalk Film Festival, and Better Cities Film Festival, where Alabama Roots received the Better Environments Award.

Her writing has appeared in The Louisville Review, The Indianapolis Review, DIAGRAM, and elsewhere.

She is currently developing her first narrative feature, Ruth, Somewhere.
